Adventure has a way of finding you.
For this installment of Let’s Ride, we’re leaving EPCOT behind, heading west to Disneyland, and venturing deep into Adventureland for one of Disney’s greatest attractions: Indiana Jones Adventure.
From the moment you leave Adventureland and begin making your way into the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, the outside world starts disappearing behind you.
That’s part of what makes this attraction so special.
The adventure doesn’t begin when the ride vehicle starts moving. It begins the moment you enter the temple.
Ancient passages lead deeper underground. Strange messages cover the walls. Evidence of an archaeological expedition surrounds you. Somewhere ahead waits the mysterious deity Mara and despite every warning suggesting otherwise, eventually somebody is going to look into those eyes.
Naturally, things don’t go particularly well from there.
Once aboard the troop transport, Indiana Jones Adventure becomes pure pulp adventure. Ancient ruins, collapsing pathways, enormous snakes, supernatural forces, and seemingly certain disaster wait around practically every corner.
And somewhere in the middle of all that chaos is Indiana Jones, probably wondering how we managed to get ourselves into this mess in the first place.
It’s thrilling, theatrical, a little frightening, occasionally funny, and completely committed to making you believe—if only for a few minutes that you’ve stepped into an adventure of your own.
That’s something Disneyland has always done exceptionally well.
It doesn’t simply ask us to watch a story.
It invites us inside.
And that’s exactly what Let’s Ride is about.
These videos aren’t meant to replace being there. They’re meant to preserve a little piece of what being there felt like—the sights, the sounds, the anticipation, and those moments we want to experience one more time after we’ve returned home.
So climb aboard, keep your eyes away from Mara, and join us as we enter the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
